Centenary Symposium – Sundri Uttamchandani
To commemorate the Birth Centenary of renowned Sindhi writer Sundri Uttamchandani, a special Centenary Symposium was organised by Sahitya Akademi on 13 December 2024 at the Sahitya Akademi Auditorium, Mumbai.
The day-long programme celebrated Sundri Uttamchandani’s remarkable contribution to Sindhi literature, with eminent writers and scholars discussing different aspects of her literary journey. The sessions explored her fiction, poetry, translations, plays and overall contribution to Sindhi literature, highlighting the depth and enduring relevance of her work.
The symposium was a fitting tribute to a pioneering literary voice whose writings portrayed human relationships, social realities, women’s experiences and the changing world around her with sensitivity and insight.
The programme concluded with a Sahitya Manch, featuring poetry and story readings by Sindhi writers.
